This series of works is a continuation of the project Soot Is White, more specifically, its final work, Winter. It is a reflection on the path we take, juxtaposing the determining force of the circumstances of place and time in which we happen to live with the personal choices available to us. What does this choice consist of?
The ceramic panels feature generated images of “places without a place” that seem to evoke familiar landscapes yet remain abstract. Time stands still in these images, making it difficult to determine whether the perspective fading into the mist looks forward or backward, whether winter or summer lies ahead, or even what time of day it is.
A profound sense of quiet uncertainty permeates every layer of the works. Even the medium is not immediately apparent: ceramic or canvas, photography or painting…
