The project Aether explores the interaction between different modalities of time. On the one hand, landscapes serve as symbols of timelessness, in the sense that the sky has existed above people's heads since time immemorial. On the other hand, the sky is one of the most changeable and elusive elements of a landscape, transforming almost every second depending on the season, time of day, and weather.
Canvases depicting the sky are embroidered with adverbs of time — words directly related to time, yet just as elusive as the image of the sky at any given moment. The embroidery itself is barely visible, as the threads are carefully matched to the background colours. However, depending on the viewing angle and lighting, the threads reflect light differently, sometimes making the words clearly legible. This once again refers to the complexity and elusive nature of the phenomenon of time itself.
